The Modern Bedu Collection is a collaboration between The Line Concept and Montroi. It is centered around modernizing the traditional, while highlighting Montroi’s philosophy on modern nomadic life. The collection explores the juxtaposition of the modern nomad, and the traversion in life and travel between developed cities of concrete, steel and marble, and the traditional Bedouin nomad, through the fabrics and seating traditionally used in their tribes. We have reinvented the “majlis”, a place of gathering, seating and tea-drinking using light “pencil-line” steel frames combined with the Sadu fabric renowned in the Arabian tribes to define the Modern Nomad. The steel frames are made to look like hand-drawn “pencil-lines”, to recreate the idea of light and movable objects, while highlighting an important part of traditional nomadism, recording the journey, highs and lows, excitements and perils, in pencil. The green marble reflects the elements of greenery in both a barren desert or a concrete jungle, as do the live cactuses used to complement this presentation.
